Lynsey Callaghan recently joined as the conductor of the FYO senior orchestra and has studied conducting both in Ireland and in Hungary. Following an undergraduate degree in music education, Lynsey is currently undertaking a masters in performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, in conjunction with Trinity College, Dublin.
Lynsey was Conductor in Training 2012-14 for the RTÉ Performing Groups and the Association of Irish Youth Choirs. As such, she has conducted the Irish Youth Choir and the Irish Youth Chamber Choir in various performances, including a joint performance with the Ulster Youth Choir and is conductor in training with the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir. In September Lynsey began as music assistant to RTE Cór na nÓg.
She has conducted Bemused? for their winning performances in the Choral Intervarsities and Cork Choral Festival and was awarded best National Mixed Voice Choir with Trinity Singers in the Derry International Choral Festival in November.
Lynsey also enjoys participating in choirs and has sung with the Irish Youth Choir, the Irish Youth Chamber Choir, Trinity Singers, Bemused? and the Ulster Youth Choir. She has studied violin and is a member of Trinity Orchestra.
Karen Barry BMus. is a conductor in the Fingal County Youth Orchestra and has experience in the National Concert Hall. She is the director of Hibernia Academy and has over ten years teaching experience.
She attained her degree from the prestigious Cork School of Music. Here she specialised in pedagogy, orchestration and conducting. She has become a well known name in the music world and is involved in a number of projects in Dublin county and beyond.
She also teaches in a number of locations and also teaches in an exciting venture for the school completion programme.
